Parth has been developing Android apps since 2013, and knows just enough RxJava to get into (and out of) trouble. He currently works at Front, building a better inbox for teams. He received a B.A. in Linguistics & Cognitive Science from Claremont McKenna College, and very occasionally puts it to use when iterating on UI. As developers, many of us are fortunate to be passionate about our work. However, “passion” often ends up being coded language for “working extra hours”! Things like personal projects, maintaining a portfolio website, or even keeping up-to-date on new libraries and best practices takes time and effort that we might prefer to spend in other areas. In the end, we all only have 24 hours in a day, 168 hours in a week. Between our family, career, health, and happiness, what should we prioritize? We’ll discuss tips for setting boundaries while maintaining career progression, all the while emphasizing making intentional, empowered decisions about your happiness.
